Minimal design without the *yawn*, March 2022

When a bathroom design delivers  serious day spa vibes, you know the selections are on point! The understated play on low tonal variation and clever use of natural textures really allows you to transport to a place of pure bliss.

The team at Oak&Orange took this design brief of dreams and created a space where simplicity meets sophistication. Dream House 5 showcases how effective the combination of large format tiles together with mosaics can be when  taking on a flawless, minimal bathroom design

The wall and floor tiles have been meticulously curated to create a seamless transition beyond the freestanding bath and  into the walk through shower. Here, you can see ColorTiles Arkistar Antracite Internal tile in a 900mm x 900mmin a straight lay pattern in all of its neutral glory.

The 900mm x 900mm square format tile is considered a large format tile, and can be more time consuming and expensive to lay than the more standard sizes, but in our opinion it’s more than worth it. The more tile and less grout lines you see create the sense of openness and calm, which is exactly what this master bathroom suite delivers.

The subtle tone and natural texture of the Arkistar floor and walls elevate the space to be more than just a hard surface. When paired together with the timber joinery and the courtyard garden, you get the sense of an organic and earthy space that is essential for the luxury day spa vibe.

The exciting thing about keeping the floor and walls simple or the same in this case, is the opportunity to showcase a striking feature. ColorTile’s Steel Penny Round in Cinder Grey is a honed natural stone mosaic that really packs a punch, but in the most sophisticated of ways.

Each honed penny round provides a subtle variation in tone and texture. This genius selection could not be more fitting together with the Arkistar Antracite Internal tile or the Mas de Provence in Cloud . Combining both large format and mosaic makes a feature of the scale as much as it does the stone or tile themselves.
